Sensei Palmer is passionate about martial arts and has been a student of Aikido for over 10 years.
He considers himself to be a grain of sand in the martial art world but what he lacks in years he has in commitment!

It was Karma that his wife noticed an ad in a local newspaper about a martial arts club opening day which brought him to meet his future teachers at the United Kingdom Aikikai Headquarters

At the request of Sensei Will Smith Shihan, he started training under Sensei Mike Smith 5th Dan Shidoin in 1995. Over the years he has built up his knowledge of the samurai art.

In March 2001 he obtained his 1st Dan from Shihan Smith and then in August 2003 he obtained his 2nd Dan from Sensei Gordon Jones 6th Dan So Hombu.

Over the years Sensei Palmer has travelled the country to train with other British Aikido instructors and further his knowledge, and regulary attends courses headed by Japanese instructors from Hombu dojo(Tokyo,Japan).
In Spring 2005 he was fortunate enough to go on a
3 week journey to Japan to learn more about "the people" and their culture.

While there he trained daily at Aikido World Head-quarters (Hombu) and was priviledged to take part in the early morning classes held by the present Doshu (Moriteru Ueshiba) who is the Grandson of "O Sensei" Morihei Ueshiba . He also took regular instruction from Hombu dojo Shihans Shigeru Sugawara, Yukimitsu Kobayashi, Takeshi Kanazawa, Tsuruzo Miyamoto, Shoji Seki and Seijuro Masuda.

While staying in Japan he was also invited to take instruction from an Uchi-deshi of the late Shoji Nishio Shihan - Sensei Ichiro Shishiya Sensei 5th dan Aikido Toho Iai.

Sensei Palmer was awarded the title of Fukishidoin in 2005 and at the present time spends 6days a week training or teaching at UKA headquarters and his two dojos in Sutton Coldfield and Erdington.
