Joshau Johnson
Karate
7 th Dan Wada Ryu

Josh’s experience of being attacked one night whilst being out with friends was the catalyst that unleashed an explosion of talent in Birmingham. Josh Johnson like Eugene Codrington started in Wado Ryu under Toru Takamizawa at the famous Temple Karate, in Birmingham. By the mid 1970’s, Josh was a force to be reckoned with! As an individual fighter he had won the Shotokan Karate International Championships.
He had also established his own martial arts clubs and put together the now legendary J.J. Karate Club Team who
dominated club team championships at national and European level throughout the mid seventies to late eighties. For example in 1985 the team won the
British Karate Club Championships, Chester and North Wales Karate Championships, the Tera West Midlands Open and was voted “Club of the Year” by “Combat” magazine.
Now a seventh dan and still creating champions at his clubs Josh has also become recognised for his community work. Josh always considered that Karate built the mind as well as the body. Karate teaches discipline, respect for others and of course self defence. He received a doctorate in
2005 from the University of Wolverhampton recognising the contribution Josh’s Karate has made to the community. .......www.elitekarate.com/club.htm
