7th Dan Wado Ryu

Eugene Codrington is a very prominent figure in the martial arts and he was awarded his 7 th Dan in Karate in June 1998.
Eugene took up Karate at the age of 17 and in less than 2.5 years of training, albeit very intensive, he was graded to 1 st dan, black belt. He trained at the renowned Temple Karate Centre run by his instructor Toru Takamizawa and within a few months of achieving his black belt, won his first of five European Championships.

He became World Team Champion in 1975 as a member of the British team who beat the Japanese team for the first time ever and he followed that up by becoming runner up individual World Champion in Tokyo two years later. Along the way he also won the British Championships five times as well as many other open Championships all over Britain and Europe .

Eugene is a well respected founder member of the English Karate Govening Borad (EKGB) for whom he is Senior Coach. He has a wealth of coaching awards and his seminars are in demand all over Europe and the World. In 1996 he was elected Wado Ryu Chief Technical Advisor for the World Karate Confederation.
